once you started wearin’ those shoes…

These were good laugh to do for DC toward the tail end of the summer.  Made the trek to Truro, several train journeys over to Cardiff and traipsed around Bristol with all the kit, got busy with the aould camera, the boys all delivered the goods on and off the board, then I went and chopped it up, put it all together and added some polish, which was tight.

Change of a lifetime

Get Microsoft Silverlight

2 weeks of work crammed into 1, many late nights, crashed renders and a boatload of top shelf design in conjunction with agency Mason Zimbler gave rise to this massive piece for Microsoft’s annual Partner Network Conference in the US during the summer and again in the UK in October. More info on the project here.

You’ll need to have Silverlight installed to watch this video. But wait! Still can’t see it?  Just getting a blank rectangle?  Hitting F5 to refresh the page usually works! On an iPad/iPhone? No chance – cheers Steve.

This is an intro sequence I designed for a kids’ educational drama programme called Fast Forward, shot here in Bristol by production company Gauntlett & Son.  Pretty heavy use of Trapcode’s Form on this one to create the strings in 3D space, along with a little Particular here & there for added flavour. Soundtrack by Nathan Ng - www.beneaththebed.co.uk

Gotta love how the animation’s colours clash with this here web site!

Muscular and compact, like corned beef…

Amidst the day to day professions I’ve got on the go, such as wearing smoking jackets, testing cognac and Cuban cigars, alongside the awesomeness of motion design, I’m also cutting together a new showreel. The best/worst part has been working out the intricacies and complications involved with multipass renders, object buffers and not using motion blur when exporting from C4D and doing my best to avoid crucifying my arse to my face.

Footage looks pretty damn good I have to say, but sweet jesus it better when it takes 3 hours to render each frame!

Check me out & chill: version 8.2 – DONE!

by ciaran on Mar.16, 2010, under motion design, news, work

Rejoice! What you see before your very eyes is the sporadically updated portfolio of me, motion designer & video director, Ciaran O Connor.

Took me aaaaaaages, but battled through in the end to finally finish off my new portfolio site.   It probably would’ve been done about a month ago should I not have spelt “/%postname%/” wrong, leading to much self harm & face punching – goodbye to the modelling contract then. Anyways, got it fixed, eventually. Next up is a new motion graphics showreel and an embarassing look back at previous incarnations & works in progress of this site, some of them are utterly shocking.

Imaginatively named after myself, I hammered together some CSS & imagery of jubilation to bring you something full of dubious joys and questionable delights from my world of work & assorted play.

First thing you’ll probably want to check out is my motion design showreel, then you probably should subscribe to updates right here. After that, it’s all up to you – enjoy…
