2 weeks of work crammed into 1, many late nights, crashed renders and a boatload of top shelf design in conjunction with agency Mason Zimbler gave rise to this massive piece for Microsoft’s annual Partner Network Conference in the US during the summer and again in the UK in October. This is an intro sequence I designed for a kids’ educational drama programme called Fast Forward, shot here in Bristol by production company Gauntlett & Son. Pretty heavy use of Trapcode’s Form on this one to create the strings in 3D space, along with a little Particular here & there for added flavour. Soundtrack by Nathan Ng - www.beneaththebed.co.uk

Recently picked up a basic Canon 550D with an f1.4 50mm prime and this is the first project I’ve used it on with another company. Seems pretty nifty so far – really enjoying the obscenely narrow DOF the prime lens can achieve, making footage look like a photo. The workflow & ergonomics of using a DSLR over a proper video camera still need some getting used to, but as ever, there’s loads more still to come.

Check out this quick piece with Jam Factory design genius Gav Strange about his Droplets launch night some weeks back for which I did some motion design of epic proportions… Pretty stoked to see the animation projected on the Banksy wall opposite 50-50 that night. Props to Gav and Makinov for putting this together.

Eventually found some time to polish off and upload this edit I’d made back in 2005 with a ton of old footage I’d shot that productive summer skating a lot, filming a little on a rickety old trv900. Found it just the other day while packing up to move house and through a combination of age, dust, mould and sweaty, grimy, filthy hands, it’s fucked…
