Bristol Music Show – madeinbristol.tv

Every now and again, as part of a small crew of 5 (1 x producer, 3 x camera ops, 1 x sound man), I help shoot live concert, interview and session DSLR footage for features produced by Audiophiles for The Bristol Music Show broadcast on madeinbristol.tv

Daddy Long Legs

The Brooklyn/Louisiana trio were the first band up in the production schedule and set a blisteringly high standard.  We filmed the group in the cellar of The Lousiana in Bristol, a proving ground for bands all over which has seen the likes of Mogwai, Interpol, The Chemical Brothers and The National all play there in their formative years.  They performed a tune for us – the sound in the cellar is WICKED – and looked sharp for an outdoor interview afterwards.

C Duncan

C Duncan was the riding the wave of success as the object of BBC 6Music’s affections when the singer-songwriter and his talented backing band rolled into Bristol for the show in the Louisiana.

They performed a downright killer acoustic version of their summer sizzler Garden downstairs in the cellar, sending those killer harmonies right through the bones, along with the customary interview and what an interesting & friendly bunch they were too.  Fair play gents, keep it up.

Bear’s Den

Check out this fine piece I edited and co-shot from acoustic hair-farming minstrels of sound, Bear’s Den.  Fresh from getting nominated for an Ivor Novello for their song Agape, Bear’s Den were on the road throughout autumn 2015 and we were on hand to have a quick chat and shoot a session with them at the upstairs venue/chamber room in the Trinity Centre in Bristol.  Great lads all three of them.

Jacco Gardner

Absolutely fascinating young lad is Jacco Gardner.  He’s picked his influences well and has done a savage job of creating a sound to compliment them.  I’ve become a fan of his music since then, so it’s always good to find some new tunes through projects like this.  Similar sound to Tame Impala, Hills and Goat, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Peluché

A change of venue and a change of plan to film the live gig for London 3 piece noise merchants Peluché saw us pitch up at legendary Bristol venue Thekla on the harbourside, which has one of the snazziest looking carparks this side of Cheddar gorge.
