Perspectives of various formats
by ciaran on Dec.29, 2011, under news
I recently helped out good friend, citizen of Bray, Co.Wicklow and cinematographer of epic proportions Phil Evans with his Format Perspective documentary.
Bankrolled by clothing brand Carhartt, Format Perspective is a 1 hour documentary and extremely sexy coffee table book about the work, life, motivation, visual style and of 6 skateboard photographers from various parts of Europe, ranging from the pro-am enthusiast to the magazine editor to the fine artist to the team manager and everything in between. It’s shot entirely on Super 8 movie film and made with bits of real panther, so you know it’s good.

The Big Push
by ciaran on Nov.04, 2009, under motion design, news, work
Once more I was enlisted to join the Big Push, this year with DC Shoes and what a trip it turned out to be. Tricks were landed, slams were had, record buttons weren’t hit, epic footage went down, stress was screamed, the good times they did most definitely roll.
Dimensions released!

Now then, another rare, but meaty, update for the masses! Motive’s DVD, Dimensions, is done and dusted. Never fun when a deadline for something like this is brought forward by a month, but everything eventually worked itself out. After too much stress, ballache & a chronic lack of sleep that is, but the whooping and hollering from the crowd before, during and after the premiere night made it worthwhile, along with all the gargle folk bought me.
Dimensions is out around NOW with the October issue of Sidewalk magazine, which works out around 20,000 copies or so. Along with coming free with Motive boards, it’ll also be available for download from www.motiveskateboards.co.uk and the usual video sites when the following issue rolls around.
I got the savoir faire…
by ciaran on Jul.07, 2008, under footage, news
Savoir Faire premieres went off, people are stoked (thankfully!) and are ready to part with their hard earned cash. DVDs are available from such fine emporiums like Native, Mischief, Note, Slam City, Ideal & many more independent skater-owned stores for the princely sum of £5 in notes. Get on down with your bad self and sort yourself out with a shiny, fine copy of your very own in a 14mm polypropylene case of style & finesse.
In the meantime, the Big Push 2008 is done & dusted – a week in a minivan with those fine men from The Harmony, skating, dodging the rain, filming a shitload when the weather allowed. Still got a broken wrist though – beyond stoked that the cast comes off next week, cannot wait…
And finally, Motive’s summer promo is now online – did this in a couple of days just before the Savoir Faire premiere, turned out pretty good & has got a strong reaction from those in the know, so now it’s a pleasure to unveil this to the public, enjoy! There’s a bigger, bolder, rougher & tougher project in the works, take note…
savoir faire premieres
by ciaran on Jun.18, 2008, under footage, news

At long last, the latest magnus opus, Savoir Faire is done, and about time too I might add. Smashing the bejayziz out of my wrist, putting myself in a cast for 8 weeks & surgical steel in my wrist (4 lyfe, yo) made sure it was held up for a couple of weeks… The premieres are in London on Friday June 20th, Manchester on Saturday June 21st and Bristol on Tuesday June 24th. Check the epic blog of epicness for news, trailers and updates. Fuck yeah.
