Weird Science

Each episode of series 4 of RTE’s flagship science show, 10 Things You Should Know About, had a short 90 second piece with Dr Fergus McAuliffe.

Here I had to key out the green screen, composite it together into the backgrounds I designed and animated for monologues about cancer, chocolate, soil, biros in space, missing submarines and more.  The vast majority of the CG elements were done with Element 3D and I used C4D for the snail & mole rat models.  All in all, this took close to a month or so to complete.  The greenscreening was always a challenge, but it seemed to work out ok I think.

Personally, I’m quite fond of the box around the Au on the title/logo screen, largely as Au is the chemical symbol for gold… I had also thought of putting the box on -fe as that could be Iron ->Iron Man.
